What’s included?
As one of the first members of Pink Prairie Post, you have the privilege (and delight?) of watching me stumble through the process of becoming a small-business owner in the 21st century. An anti-capitalist business owner, might I add. Steeped in contradictions, I want to make sure that if I am trying to make a living as an artist that I am making my work as accessible to as many people as possible. Today we are inundated with email services, subscriptions, etc. but so many sit unopened or are recycled upon receiving.
However, one of my fondest memories from childhood was running to check the mailbox each day. Even though I knew there likely wouldn’t be letters with my name on the envelope I looked forward to leafing through any magazines or catalogues my parents got in the mail. Whether it was my dad’s monthly copy of a medical journal or an L.L. Bean catalogue sent around the holidays, I remember flipping through and looking at the glossy images and small type captions. There was a certain degree of fascination in figuring out how these mail items came together and now I have the chance to do that on my own terms!
So please, be patient with me as I work to figure this out. Over the next few months I am hoping this “members only” site will be filled with additional images and videos of the printing process, a guiding principles section, and a transparency report. It seems to me that if I am running around calling myself an anti-capitalist I need to put my money where my mouth is (pun intended) and show you exactly how I’m coming up with pricing structure, membership options, etc.
